Job summary

WSP USA in Las Vegas seeks a Senior Surface Water Engineer to join our local team. You will lead hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, mentor junior staff, and manage scope, schedule, and budgets across transportation, municipal, and flood risk projects.

You will collaborate with regulators, prepare drainage reports, and ensure QA/QC while applying FEMA methods and HEC models. Nevada PE license required or within 6 months; 7–10 years experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering with a focus in Water Resources or related discipline.
• 7–10 years of post-education experience in water resources engineering.
• Nevada PE license required or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Experience supporting project management tasks (scope, schedules, budgets).
• Working knowledge of FEMA flood studies, floodplain and hazards analyses.
• Proficiency with surface water analysis, hydrologic methods (TR-55, HEC-1, HEC-HMS) and hydraulic models (HEC-RAS, HY-8, etc.).
• CAD software proficiency; Autodesk and ArcGIS experience expected.

Responsibilities

• Lead drainage and stormwater design across transportation, municipal, and flood risk projects.
• Prepare technical drainage reports detailing research, findings, and recommendations.
• Oversee multidisciplinary teams, manage budgets, hours, and deliverables.
• Mentor junior engineers through design, modeling, and regulatory coordination.
• Coordinate with regulators and stakeholders to ensure compliance.
• Provide day-to-day technical guidance on hydrologic/hydraulic modeling and stormwater engineering.
