Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Surface Water Engineer to join our Denver office. The role targets an engineer with 5–7 years of experience in hydrology, hydraulics, floodplain analysis, and FEMA flood studies, looking to advance into project management and team leadership.

You will lead portions of FEMA Risk MAP projects across Colorado, coordinate scopes, schedules, budgets, and client communications, while mentoring junior staff and contributing to technical excellence in the Denver surface water

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • 5–7 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Colorado PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Experience with FEMA flood studies and Risk MAP projects.
  • Proficiency with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software and GIS.

Responsibilities

  • Support FEMA Risk MAP studies and floodplain mapping projects across Colorado.
  • Coordinate scopes, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Lead technical tasks in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and FEMA analyses.
  • Participate in client meetings and stakeholder discussions.
  • Mentor junior staff and develop technical excellence.
  • Assist with proposals, scope development, and business development.
