Job summary

Core Specialty Insurance Holdings, Inc. seeks a seasoned executive to establish and lead the Surety Claims department in Cincinnati.

The role oversees all aspects of claims handling, from investigation and coverage to resolution and recovery, with emphasis on strategic leadership and risk management. The candidate will recruit, coach, and manage a team, ensure compliance with policy and regulatory requirements, and collaborate with underwriting, reinsurers, and outside counsel to drive favorable

Qualifications

• College degree required.
• J.D. preferred.
• Minimum 10 years' experience in the legal or surety profession dealing specifically with surety claims handling and litigation and their management and reporting requirements, including recovery.
• Ability to Travel.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to simplify, analyze and explain complex issues.
• Ability to review processes and determine opportunities for improvement.

Responsibilities

• Establish the Surety Claims department and provide oversight for claims handling.
• Manage compliance with coverage, investigation, liability, damages, evaluation, resolution and recovery.
• Establish reserves pursuant to reserving protocols and procedures.
• Coach, develop, and motivate direct reports with HR alignment.
• Act as claims contact for reinsurance placements.
• Engage outside counsel, consultants, and vendors for ALAE control.
• Provide claims underwriting support to underwriters as requested.
• Attend mediation, settlements, and trials when required.
• Adhere to KPI metrics and service levels established by leadership.
• Undertake general office administrative duties and industry awareness.
