Job summary

Lhoist North America is seeking a senior transportation and logistics leader in Alabama to own and optimize freight strategy across rail, barge, and truck. You will lead budgeting, contract negotiations, and S&OP initiatives, working with regional teams to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of materials.

The role demands strong analytical skills, experience in heavy industry logistics, and a proven ability to drive cross-functional improvements while maintaining safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• BS degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Finance, Engineering or related field.
• Master’s degree is a plus.
• Experience in heavy industry and bulk material, chemical, mining or related fields is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide transportation leadership and pricing strategy across Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain and Logistics.
• Lead and streamline Logistics budget processes.
• Oversee contract negotiations for rail, barge and truck to reduce freight spend.
• Manage inventory levels and optimize procurement and distribution planning.
• Coordinate with railcar/leasing and terminals to ensure steady movement and minimize gaps.
• Drive short- and long-term S&OP processes and strategic capacity planning.
• Analyze forecast accuracy and communicate KPIs to senior management.
• Develop and implement optimization projects to improve delivery times and reduce costs.
