Job summary

Solar is seeking a Sr. Principal Supplier Technical Engineer to support manufacturing, supplier quality, and process improvements across multiple locations in the United States.

The role requires strong collaboration with Quality, Design, and Operations teams and expertise in inspection standards and PPAP/MRB processes. The candidate will review drawings, discuss specifications with suppliers, and provide on-site technical support to ensure manufacturability and compliance with engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Aerospace/Industrial Engineering.
• Experience in manufacturing engineering, supplier quality, production engineering.
• Experience with investment casting.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications.
• Experience creating material documents for MRB submissions.
• Experience documenting design requirement deviations.
• Understanding of inspection processes and measurement tools (fixtures/gages).
• Familiarity with 3D scanning, CMM reporting and digital comparators.
• Lean / Six Sigma experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review yield issues and collaborate with the supplier to improve performance.
• Partner with Quality Engineering, Design Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations.
• Evaluate manufacturing processes, tooling, and process controls to ensure compliance with specs.
• Review drawings, models, and technical requirements with suppliers to resolve ambiguity and ensure manufacturability.
• Provide on-site technical support while representing Solar’s interests at the supplier.
• Support MRB assessments and supplier dispositions.
• Validate effectiveness of corrective action activities.
• Look for and consider non-verbal cues from individuals and groups.
