Job summary

CesiumAstro seeks a Senior Supplier Quality Manager to lead multiple supplier quality engineering teams ensuring qualification, development, and performance across the aerospace supply base.

You will partner with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain to ensure purchased hardware meets AS9100/ISO9001, customer, and regulatory requirements, while driving continuous improvement and supplier development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field.
• 9+ years related experience with 2–5 years in leadership/management, including direct supervision of quality or supplier quality engineering staff.
• Strong working knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001 quality management systems and aerospace supplier quality requirements.
• Proficiency in root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone).
• Experience with supplier qualification, PPAP, and First Article Inspection (AS9102).
• Working knowledge of SPC and quality inspection methods.
• Understanding of ITAR/EAR and DFARS requirements for aerospace/defense suppliers.
• Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and team development.
• Cross-functional collaboration and supplier relationship management skills.
• MS Office suite; Excel/PowerPoint/Word/Outlook; ERP/MRP systems (Acumatica, SAP).
• Familiarity with QMS software, Minitab, and PLM software.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to ~50%.

Responsibilities

• Manage supplier quality engineering teams for qualification, development, surveillance, performance management, and corrective action.
• Establish supplier quality priorities, allocate resources, and translate objectives into staffing and execution plans.
• Develop quality leaders and engineering personnel through coaching and succession planning.
• Oversee supplier qualification, risk assessment, site audits, and approved supplier status.
• Ensure supplier requirements flow down and compliance with QMS, engineering, customer, and regulatory requirements.
• Evaluate processes, FAI/AS9102, PPAP, inspection methods, and production readiness.
• Review supplier performance using defects, nonconformances, on-time delivery, and SCARs to identify risks.
• Guide containment and root cause analysis for nonconformances and verify corrective actions.
• Escalate supplier quality risks and drive SCARs and improvement plans.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, operations, and supply chain on producibility, DFM, and quality risks.
• Evaluate capability and trends to set development priorities for critical suppliers.
• Advance supplier quality processes, analytics, and continuous improvement across the supply base.
