Job summary

BAE Systems, Inc. seeks a Supplier Quality Engineer to ensure supplier quality, reliability, and on‑time delivery. You will drive risk management, continuous improvement, and cross‑functional collaboration with internal teams and suppliers.

The role emphasizes process controls, PFMEA, PPAP knowledge, and audits under ISO 9001/AS9100. Occasional travel within the continental USA and abroad is required.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelor0s in Engineering or Technical discipline with four (4) years related experience, or an Associates with six (6) years experience.
  • Strong capabilities in Excel and Power BI.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 Quality System.
  • Strong manufacturing experience with preferred APQP and PPAP knowledge.
  • Strong history of auditing experience.
  • Proven problem solving - Root cause / corrective actions.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings / specifications / GD&T.
  • Proficient in gage selection, product measurement and validation techniques.
  • Highly effective communication and interactive skills.
  • Must be a motivated self‑starter.
  • Must currently have some level of Six Sigma belt.
  • Able to support a minimum 75% travel. Note: Most travel is within the continental USA but there may be instances of travel to Canada and abroad.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Process Controls to ensure compliance with quality, on‑time delivery, and performance standards.
  • Identify and mitigate supplier‑related risks through proactive engagement and analysis.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging Operational Excellence (OE) guiding principles, Process Engineering, and Waste Identification and Elimination techniques.
  • Develop and review key quality and reliability documents, including PFMEA, PFDs, and Control Plans.
  • Develop and document standard work for suppliers and ensure the use of SPC to monitor process stability.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to educate those, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Provide training and hands‑on problem‑solving support to team members, fostering collaboration and knowledge‑sharing.
  • Utilize analytical, communication, and project management skills to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • Perform QMS and Special Process Audits (weld, sub‑safe, Nonconformance, Document control).
  • Onboarding of new suppliers and overseeing BAE Approved Supplier List and supplier trends.

BAE Systems is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our suppliers meet and sustain the required standards for quality, reliability, and performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in continuous improvement, manufacturing engineering and/or industrial engineering, with experience in process engineering. If selected, you will be responsible for driving supplier excellence and reliability through proactive risk management, continuous improvement, and collaborative engagement with both our suppliers and internal stakeholders. This role requires excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross‑functional team environment. Additionally the SQE will focus heavily on inspection and compliance of suppliers using methodologies that drive operational excellence, quality, on‑time delivery, and reliability.

Responsibilities

    • Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) to visualize and understand complex manufacturing processes
    • Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) to identify and mitigate potential failures
    • Control Plans to ensure effective process controls and monitoring
  • Develop and document standard work for suppliers and ensure the use of statistical process control (SPC) to monitor and maintain process stability
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to educate those, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
  • Provide training and hands‑on problem‑solving support to team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and knowledge‑sharing
  • Utilize excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills to effectively manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
  • Perform QMS and Special Process Audits, including weld, sub‑safe, Nonconformance, and Document control audits

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree and four (4) years related work experience in Process Engineering / Manufacturing Engineering type role is preferred;
  • Six Sigma Belt preferred;
  • ASQ certifications will be a plus.
Pay Information

Full‑Time Salary Range: $88189 - $149922

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
