Job summary

Parker Aerospace in Utah's Commercial Flight Controls Division is seeking a Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer.

You will investigate, analyze and resolve supplier quality problems, conduct audits and lead continuous improvement projects to ensure parts meet requirements. You will collaborate with Purchasing and Corporate Quality, drive corrective actions, monitor KPIs, lead root cause analysis, and travel about 25% to suppliers to ensure continuity of supply.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree required in a STEM discipline (Mechanical Engineering preferred).
  • 4-6+ years of relevant experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent ability to apply a systematic and analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to interpret internal/external business challenges and make recommendations for improvements to products, processes or services.
  • Ability to explain a range of complex technical information.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to proactively identify and solve problems.
  • Experience with outside processing/special processes is desirable for this position (application of coating, plating, heat treat, nital etch, NDT, etc.).
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Purchasing to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported and that appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented.
  • Maintain and update critical supplier audit system and schedule in cooperation with Corporate Quality functions.
  • Conduct supplier audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor, communicate and improve key supply chain KPIs.
  • Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers and customers to eliminate recurrence of non‑conformances.
  • Issue and ensure timely processing of supplier corrective action requests (SCARs).
  • Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Develop long‑term supplier relationships and generate and implement cost reduction ideas.
  • Aid Manufacturing in the evaluation and qualification of new supplier materials following a defined new product development process.
  • Strategically lead supplier performance improvement projects to increase supplier capability, including Six Sigma, 5S and Kaizen events.
  • Drive “Zero Defect” mentality within the supply base.
  • Will travel to suppliers about 25% of the time.

Position Summary

The Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer provides a range of expertise to ensure that incoming materials are free of flaws and function as specified. Investigate, analyze and resolve supplier quality problems by conducting audits, analyzing defect trends and leading continuous improvement projects.

Job Core Responsibilities

  • Conduct supplier audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement
