Job description

Job Title: Senior Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Code: SRSUPQENG001

SUMMARY: Verify suppliers are capable of achieving and maintaining quality standards set forth by Lincoln Industries. This role will work directly with the global supply chain department to perform supplier assessments, periodic audits to ensure standards are consistently achieved, and supplier performance scorecards to continuously monitor supplier performance. In addition to tracking supplier quality performance, this role will serve as a subject matter expert to the suppliers and be responsible for communicating and resolving quality issues with the supplier.

  1. Develop good working relationships with Lincoln Industries suppliers.
  2. Oversee supplier performance to ensure accuracy and improvement progress.
  3. Perform quality related portion of supplier assessments.
  4. Conduct periodic supplier quality audits.
  5. Maintain quality portion of supplier scorecards.
  6. Coordinate supplier corrective action.
  7. Communicate specification changes to suppliers.
  8. Manage supplier PPAP events.
  9. Monitor quality of goods from suppliers and coordinate the reject/return/debit process with suppliers, as needed, through the Lincoln Industries non-conforming parts areas (NCP) and inspect finished goods (INSP-FG).
  10. Work with strategic supplier’s management to focus supplier resources around quality improvements and cost reductions.
  11. Work with Lincoln Industries Global Supply Chain team to focus on critical issues related to cost of quality.
  12. Disposition material through ERP System (Navision).
  13. Utilize the Six Sigma Process to analyze supplier quality issues and drive improvements.
  14. Develop and maintain communications about supplier quality issues in a cooperative and professional manner with all levels of staff and suppliers, by communicating openly, honestly and constructively, treating all employees with dignity, respect and courtesy.
  15. Responsible for maintenance and growth of NCP (non-conforming product) strategy as it relates to purchased parts.
  16. Responsible for the agreement and coordination of fallout reconciliation and liability involving Lincoln Industries with suppliers.
  17. Communicate supplier status to Sourcing Engineers on a quality basis.
  18. Could potentially come in contact with hazardous chemicals.
  19. Environmental responsibility is our commitment to our communities. Proper disposal of waste such as recyclables, standard waste, hazardous waste, etc. is expected.
  20. Any other tasks as required fulfilling Lincoln Industries' Beliefs and Drivers.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE:

  1. Reports to: Manager, Global Sourcing
  2. Supervises: NCP and INSP-FG Inspectors

QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted for the expected levels of education and experience required.

Education and/or Experience:

Expected: Bachelor’s Degree from a 4 year college or university in a technical field. Six Sigma Green Belt certification. A technical aptitude to analyze defects and problem solve driving to root cause. Knowledgeable in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred: Six Sigma Black Belt certification. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a quality engineering role or manufacturing engineering role. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in steel and aluminum castings, machining and/or fabrication.

Communication Skills:

  1. Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language.
  2. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Other Skills:

  1. Ability to read engineering prints.
  2. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  3. Possess interpersonal skills and good organizational skills.
