Job summary

Textron Systems in Wilmington, MA seeks a Supplier Development (Quality) Engineer III to drive external supply chain improvement across site locations with emphasis on quality and performance. You will lead supplier assessments, quality-driven design inputs, and manufacturing readiness while partnering with Sourcing, Quality, and Programs.

Responsibilities include coordinating contractual requirements, conducting inspections and RCCA, and advancing supplier scorecards.

Qualifications

• Wide bandwidth knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical design and awareness of lean manufacturing principles and the identification of key performance parameters (KPPs).
• Ability to analyze and understand technical drawings, including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, MBDF, BOMs, sketches, CAD models, and specs.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001-, AS9100-, and AS9102-based quality systems.
• General knowledge of industry standards for manufacture and test.
• Broad knowledge of Quality Engineering and manufacturing processes and procedures.
• If Electrical, knowledge of J-STD-001 and IPC-610, and related standards.
• Ability to visualize manufacturing interactions and detect design issues with logical solutions.
• Strong interpersonal skills with suppliers and internal teams.
• Knowledge of GD&T and tolerances in manufacturing.
• Knowledge of DFX (Design for Manufacturing/Assembly/Cost).
• Basic computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, Visio.
• ERP and MRP (Oracle); PLM (Matrix).
• Experience with RCCA processes and tools.
• Knowledge of outsourcing and Supply Chain procedures.
• Willingness to travel to supplier sites ~30%.

Responsibilities

• Develop Relationships across the Supply Base and connect with internal customers to drive Quality into execution.
• Perform/supervise source qualification via quality management system surveys and special process reviews.
• Solicit supplier inputs into design, considering manufacturability, cost, reliability, and availability.
• Conduct Manufacturing Readiness Assessments (MRA) as appropriate for suppliers.
• Coordinate flow-down of contractual requirements and quality expectations to suppliers.
• Execute supplier development strategies across domains.
• Coordinate with Sourcing Engineering, Supplier Management, Buyers, and Quality to enable smooth transitions via TIMs.
• Coordinate with Quality Engineering inspection requirements and first article inspections.
• Lead management of critical supplier issues to improve execution.
• Lead risk assessments via FMEA/Risk Cubes, RCCA, and countermeasures.
• Perform data analysis and issue reports on supplier performance to ensure quality and delivery.
