Job summary

Intuitive Surgical, Inc. is seeking a Senior Supplier Engineer to steer supplier selection and qualification for next-generation robotic platforms.

You will partner with Mechanical, Electrical, Operations, Quality, Sourcing, and Program Management to ensure successful New Product Introduction with a focus on precision motion hardware and PCBAs. The role requires strong technical leadership, cross-functional influence, and the ability to drive design-for-manufacturability across multiple

Qualifications

• Experience leading New Product Introduction programs across manufacturing.
• Strong analytical thinking and disciplined judgment in complex projects.
• Thorough knowledge of GD&T standards and measurement practices.
• Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing methods applied to medical devices.
• Proficiency in pFMEA, process validation, root cause investigation, inspection and test techniques.
• Familiarity with document management and ERP systems; SAP preferred.
• Knowledge of 21 CFR part 820 and ISO 13485 is advantageous.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; proven project management skills.
• Willingness to travel to suppliers domestically and internationally (25%).

Responsibilities

• Define and drive supplier engineering strategy for critical technologies in NPI programs.
• Lead supplier selection, qualification, development, and risk mitigation activities.
• Collaborate with engineering and sourcing to influence architecture and make-versus-buy decisions.
• Assess supplier capabilities, manufacturing readiness, quality systems, and scalability.
• Advise on design-for-manufacturability and design-for-supply-chain excellence.
• Coordinate with program management to identify and mitigate risks.
• Oversee supplier activities for motors, encoders, gears, brakes, and precision components.
• Build partnerships across cross-functional teams and leadership.
