Job summary

Bowmar LLC in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer to ensure supplier capability, quality, and performance for electromechanical assemblies used in aerospace and defense.

The role focuses on qualifying new suppliers, improving existing performance, and ensuring compliance with AS9100/ISO 9001, ITAR, and customer requirements while collaborating with engineering, supply chain, and quality teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years in supplier development, quality or manufacturing engineering in aerospace/defense.
• Experience with electromechanical assemblies, precision machining, or electronics manufacturing preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, drawings, and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and qualify new suppliers through audits, capability assessments, and risk analysis.
• Monitor supplier performance using KPIs (quality, delivery, cost, responsiveness).
• Lead supplier improvement initiatives to address root causes of nonconformance or delivery issues.
• Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and quality teams to establish supplier criteria.
• Ensure suppliers adhere to AS9100/ISO 9001, ITAR, and customer-specific requirements.
