Job summary

Bowmar LLC in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer to ensure supplier capability, quality, and performance for electromechanical assemblies. You will qualify new suppliers, improve existing ones, and ensure compliance with AS9100/ISO 9001, ITAR, and customer requirements.

The role requires strong manufacturing/quality background in aerospace/defense, with travel 10–20% to supplier sites. Eligible for bonus and benefits; remote sponsorship not provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, industrial, or manufacturing).
• 5+ years in supplier development, quality or manufacturing engineering in aerospace/defense.
• Experience with electromechanical assemblies, precision machining, or electronics manufacturing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and qualify new suppliers through audits and capability assessments.
• Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and quality to set supplier approval criteria.
• Lead supplier improvement initiatives addressing nonconformance and delivery issues.
• Conduct on-site supplier visits to drive process improvements and ensure standards.
• Support NPI by engaging suppliers early for manufacturability and cost optimization.
• Review supplier PPAPs and process validations; participate in RCCA activities.
