Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA, is seeking a driven leader to head the Microelectronics Fabrication team, overseeing approx. 20 lab technicians from raw material to final product with no third-party processes.

The role focuses on quality, cost reduction, scheduling, and customer interfaces, with 80% shop floor presence and 20% desk work. Onsite position with potential relocation support.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a University Degree with 5+ years of relevant experience or an Advanced Degree with 3+ years of experience.
  • Experience in microelectronics fabrication, plating and lithography is preferred.
  • Experience in a clean room environment is preferred.
  • Experience coordinating efforts with internal and external facilities organizations.
  • Experience leading teams including production/maintenance roles and with collective bargaining units.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures all quality related items for multiple cells or a complex cell are complete and documented to meet established quality standards.
  • Guides cost reduction and process improvement in multiple cells or a complex cell to ensure efficiency of operations and cost effectiveness.
  • Plans and executes scheduling for multiple cells or a complex cell to meet production schedules.
  • Guides the sequencing of work, such as build and delivery, for multiple cells or a complex cell to optimize productivity.
  • Supervises activities for materials and logistics problem resolution for multiple cells or a complex cell to ensure availability of materials and smooth operations.
  • Manages cell performance and productivity for multiple cells or a complex cell to maximize productivity.
  • Guides production innovation, including additive manufacturing, for multiple cells or a complex cell to enhance production capabilities.
  • Interfaces with customers to understand customer needs and issues and ensure that the customers receive satisfactory standards of service.
  • Responsible for all or a major portion of processing operations in a plant.
  • Oversees production operations (shop floor management, workforce management, and flow disruption management), maintenance, plant engineering, scheduling and personnel.
  • Manages and supervises the work of manufacturing production disciplines in the Operations function.
  • Performs professional or management work regularly across multiple Manufacturing disciplines.
  • Includes activities that cannot be attributed to a defined Operations discipline.

Collins Aerospace is looking for a motivated leader to join our Microelectronics Fabrication team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

This individual will lead a team of approximately 20 lab technicians and oversee the fabrication and testing of microelectronics from raw material to final product, with no third-party processes involved.

Key processes utilized in our fabrication process include lithography, plating, planarization, electrical testing, and hermetic testing.

The ideal candidate is a driven, people-first leader who can effectively evaluate manufacturing processes and collaborate with engineering organizations. This leader will be accountable for the output and inventory metrics of the Microelectronics Fabrication team. As the products produced by this team are utilized by internal customers, the success of the Microelectronics Fabrication team is crucial to the success of the business.

This role will be performed ONSITE in our Collins Aerospace location in Cedar Rapids, IA. This role is eligible for relocation assistance. This position will be expected to work within the production floor 80% of their work week and 20% at their desk on average. The work hours for this position are 7:00am - 3:30pm Monday through Friday, but occasional weekend support may be required as needed.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
