Job summary

MatPel Builders is seeking a hands-on Construction Superintendent to lead our South Bay team in the San Francisco Bay Area. The ideal candidate will bring extensive carpentry expertise, strong leadership, and a solutions-focused mindset to deliver premium residential and light commercial projects.

You will supervise field crews, coordinate with PMs, read plans, manage budgets, and ensure safety and quality across a fast-paced, client-focused portfolio.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of superintendent experience in high-end residential construction.
• Strong carpentry background and ability to read plans.
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage subcontractors.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Must wear PPE and meet physical demands of the job.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor field crews.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to execute work efficiently and profitably.
• Coordinate jobsite layout, excavation depths, and elevations.
• Partner with architects, designers, and engineers to resolve field challenges.
• Manage labor needs and communicate with HR and Senior Superintendents.
• Maintain schedules, generate material lists, and track deliveries.
• Lead daily reporting in Procore, including photo documentation.
• Monitor project costs, budgets, and productivity.
• Review plans and provide clear direction to subcontractors.
• Enforce site safety and cleanliness standards at all times.
• Perform carpentry tasks as needed, including finish work.
• Ensure timely punch-list completion and client satisfaction.
