Job summary

Henderson Scott US in Houston seeks a Lead Superintendent to oversee field operations on large-scale commercial construction projects. You will drive schedules, manage a team of superintendents and subcontractors, and ensure safety, quality, and on-time delivery from preconstruction to closeout.

The role emphasizes mentoring field staff, coordinating with project managers, and solving schedule and budget challenges while upholding high standards across complex public-sector and commercial builds

Qualifications

• 10+ years of commercial construction experience, with at least 5 years serving as a Superintendent on ground-up projects.
• Proven experience leading large commercial/public-sector construction projects from start to finish.
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and jobsite safety requirements.
• Experience managing projects ranging from $20M-$100M+ preferred.
• Familiarity with scheduling tools (Primavera P6 or MS Project) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead all day-to-day field operations on commercial construction projects.
• Develop, maintain, and drive project schedules to meet milestone and completion dates.
• Manage Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
• Maintain accountability for project safety, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and site safety programs.
• Conduct regular site walks to monitor quality, productivity, and work sequencing.
• Coordinate and manage all subcontractor activities to ensure efficient project execution.
• Lead subcontractor meetings, coordination meetings, and daily planning activities.
• Work with Project Managers to identify and resolve schedule, budget, and constructability issues.
• Oversee site logistics, manpower planning, material deliveries, and equipment coordination.
• Ensure all work is completed per contract documents, plans, specs, and quality standards.
• Serve as primary field contact for owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, and stakeholders.
• Manage inspections, punch lists, commissioning, and turnover processes.
• Mentor and develop Assistant Superintendents and other field staff.
• Participate in preconstruction planning, logistics development, and risk mitigation.
