Job summary

Skanska USA Building is seeking a Senior Superintendent to lead on-site execution across multiple projects in the San Francisco area. You will develop short- to mid-term tactical plans, supervise crews, ensure safety standards, and coordinate with internal and external partners to drive project success.

The role requires extensive construction leadership experience, strong scheduling and risk management skills, and a proven ability to mentor teams while aligning with Skanska’s values and project

Qualifications

• 15+ years of building and construction experience with top leadership across multiple projects.
• 8+ years actively creating a Safety and QA/QC culture
• 5+ years in a Top Leadership position for multiple projects
• 10+ years experience scheduling and prioritizing activities
• 8+ years experience identifying and dealing with Risk & Mitigation procedures
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop talent
• Proven experience stepping into a problem project and setting direction to correct issues
• Bachelor’s Degree - Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or similar or 8 years equivalent experience plus minimum 10 years prior relevant experience.

The Senior Superintendent at Skanska USA Building is a key operational leader responsible for developing and executing short‑to mid‑term tactical plans that materially support the organization’s construction strategy. This role contributes to operational planning, budget oversight, process development, and improvements that enhance performance across multiple teams. The position frequently addresses complex, ambiguous problems requiring deep investigation and cross‑departmental coordination, applying broad construction expertise and seasoned judgment to drive solutions.

Strong communication and influence are essential, as the Senior Superintendent interacts with internal departments, external partners, subcontractors, vendors, and occasionally clients. The role oversees multiple teams or units, ensuring proper staffing, mentoring, performance management, and alignment with organizational goals. On active construction sites, the position requires consistent on‑site presence to supervise operations, uphold safety standards, manage schedules, resolve conflicts, monitor subcontractor performance, and maintain project quality. The job also involves interpreting plans and specifications, managing logistics, mitigating risks, and supporting business development efforts.

This senior leadership role requires extensive experience in construction operations, safety culture, scheduling, risk mitigation, and team development—typically 15+ years in building construction, with substantial time in top‑level leadership across multiple projects. Additional competencies include contract management, cost control, design coordination, and use of construction technology such as BIM, scheduling software, and project management systems. A bachelor’s degree in construction‑related fields (or equivalent experience) is required, with preferred qualifications including Procore certification, BIM expertise, and familiarity with tools like Revit, OPC, and JD Edwards.

Senior Superintendent Required Qualifications:

• 8+ years actively creating a Safety and QA/QC Cultural
• 5+ years in a Top Leadership position for multiple projects
• 15+ years of Building and construction experience(For NYC-Knowledge of the DOB’s technical reports and Chapter 33)
• 10+ years experience scheduling and prioritizing activities.
• 8+ years experience identifying and dealing with Risk & Mitigation procedures
• Demonstrated ability to Mentor and develop talent.
• Proven experience stepping into a problem project and quickly identifying problem areas or concerns and setting direction for correcting the issue
• Bachelor’s Degree - Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or similar or 8 years equivalent experience plus minimum 10 years prior relevant experience.
