Job summary

Halff is seeking a SUE Field Technician III for our Austin or San Antonio offices. The role requires a minimum of five years of SUE experience, with responsibilities including locating, documenting, and providing utility data to support engineering teams.

You will operate GPR and EM locators, lead a two-person crew, and collaborate with project stakeholders to meet safety and quality standards. Ideal candidates will read plans, interpret utility records, and travel to job sites, with a strong

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of SUE utility locating and designating experience.
• Proficient with GPR, EM locators, and vacuum excavation systems.
• Familiar with APWA color codes and ASCE 38-22.
• Ability to read construction plans and utility records.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Operate and calibrate utility locating equipment (GPR, EM locators).
• Lead a two-person utility designating crew.
• Read and interpret utility plans, drawings, maps, and records.
• Document location depth and type in reports and sketches.
• Coordinate with project managers and utility owners.
• Travel to project sites and perform after-hours work as needed.
