Job summary

Diamondback E&P LLC in Midland, Texas seeks a seasoned Geoscientist to build and maintain subsurface risk assessments for development AFE's, pre-drill, and operations. The role requires 5+ years in oil & gas, with strong knowledge of pore pressure, geomechanics, and regulatory frameworks for injection operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Geosciences, Geophysics, Engineering Geology, or related field.
• 5+ years as geoscientist in oil & gas or related subsurface field.
• Experience integrating geologic, geophysical, and engineering data into risk assessments.
• Knowledge of pore pressure, wellbore stability, and basic geomechanics; injection reservoir characterization.
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks in Permian or injection operations.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain subsurface risk assessments for development AFE's, pre-drill, pre-frac, and operations.
• Lead geological support for production team and workover teams.
• Perform detailed well log correlation and stratigraphic picks to keep the regional framework current.
• Use geological and engineering data to assess shallow hazards and pressure risk.
• Assist in injecting datasets and developing tools/workflows for regional mapping.
• Collaborate with operations and asset teams using multidisciplinary subsurface interpretation.
• Support regulatory and midstream partners in permitting, protest workflows, and data submissions.
• Recommend subsurface data acquisition programs and projects.
• Work with geotechnical staff and data science on predictive tools and risk maps.
• Support midstream partners in understanding subsurface conditions affecting disposal capacity and field ops.
