Job summary

Pedernales Electric Cooperative seeks a Substation Technician II to perform maintenance, testing, and commissioning of high-voltage substations in the PEC service area. This role requires travel throughout the PEC service area and 24/7 readiness.

You will operate and maintain switching, protective relays, and testing equipment, document results, and support CIP projects with a focus on safety and NERC compliance.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Electrical Power and Controls, Electronics Technology or related field.
• Directly related experience may substitute for education.
• Two years of Substation Technician II or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and inspection on substation equipment according to maintenance standards.
• Execute switching orders inside substations to control power flow.
• Install mobile substations for construction projects and routine maintenance.
• Perform technical testing of substation equipment including oil dielectric tests and transformer testing.
• Test substation battery banks and chargers; verify voltages and impedance.
