Job summary

SGB-SMIT USA is seeking an experienced Substation Specialist to join our team. You will perform repair, testing and maintenance of power transformers, both in shop and in the field, and operate advanced test equipment to ensure compliance with industry standards.

The role requires 10+ years of substation experience, electrical theory knowledge, and willingness to travel and work overtime. ANETA certification and CDL are a plus; associate degree preferred; HS diploma required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED REQUIRED.
• Associate's degree in industrial maintenance or Electrical/Electronic Technology preferred.
• 10+ years of commensurate Substation work experience preferred.
• Electrical theory education and/or related experience required.
• Military experience is a plus.
• NETA certification is a plus.
• CDL Class A is desired but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform all aspects of substation services (repair, processing & testing) with understanding of transformers and controls.
• Conduct shop and field transformer testing for Power Factor, Excitation and resistance readings per NETA/ANSI standards; maintain mechanical systems including pump, valve and oil processing units.
• Troubleshoot and test transformers using various methods and testing equipment; perform partial installation of transformer components.
• Conduct acceptance testing and preventative maintenance per published procedures.
• Operate specialized test equipment such as Power Factor Testers, Megohmmeters, and volt‑ohm‑meters.
• Willingness to travel overnight, multi-day, out-of-town jobs and work overtime including nights, weekends and some holidays.
