Job summary

SGB-SMIT USA, a division of a global transformer manufacturer, seeks an experienced Substation Technician to perform repair, testing, and maintenance on transformers in field and shop environments. You will handle tests per industry standards and operate specialized equipment while traveling for multi-day jobs.

The role requires a high school diploma (associate degree preferred), 10+ years of substation experience, and willingness to travel. OT, nights, and some holidays may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; an Associate’s degree in industrial maintenance or Electrical/Electronic Technology preferred.
• 10+ years of commensurate substation work experience preferred.
• Electrical theory education and/or related experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform all aspects of substation services (repair, processing & testing) with understanding of transformers and related controls.
• Conduct shop and field transformer testing for Power Factor, excitation, and resistance per standards.
• Operate and test equipment including power factor testers and megohmmeters; maintain mechanical systems and oil processing units.
