Job summary

K&A Power Group is seeking a highly motivated Structural Substation Engineer to join our team in Oakbrook IL or Pleasanton CA. You will lead structural design for high‑voltage substations and collaborate with electrical, civil, and project management teams on challenging projects that impact energy infrastructure.

The role requires a PE license (Illinois preferred) or ability via comity, 5+ years in substation design, and familiarity with seismic design in California.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 5+ years of structural engineering experience with a focus on substation design.
• Demonstrated experience with structural steel design, concrete/foundation design, and analysis software.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support structural design efforts for high‑voltage substations (12kV–500kV).
• Perform structural steel design, including bus supports, equipment stands, platforms, and connections.
• Develop concrete foundation designs for transformers, breakers, and control buildings.
