Job summary

Avangrid is seeking a Senior Engineer - Protection & Control in Orange, CT to supervise and perform work in energized substations, ensuring reliability of protective control systems. You will engage with engineers and technicians on projects spanning substation integration, automation, and control systems with microprocessor-based equipment.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering and 5+ years in substations or protection and control design, with familiarity in standards such as IEEE,

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in electrical substations, transmission or protection & control design.
• Familiarity with OSHA, IEEE, IEC, NFPA, NETA and NERC.
• Advanced understanding of short-circuit/fault analysis and protective coordination.
• Strong computer and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Project detailed engineering, designs and calculations across scoping, conceptual engineering, design, construction, and closeout.
• Review/update electrical drawings including single-lines, three-lines, AC/DC schematics and logic.
• Develop equipment specs and assemble project documents using expertise in the discipline.
• Provide technical support to operations and production teams at substations.
• Travel to substation sites in the northeast for commissioning and field work.
