Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Substation Designer to deliver Protection & Control and Physical Design packages for AIS and GIS substations across utility, industrial, and data center projects. You will coordinate with engineers, project managers, clients, and contractors from conceptual engineering through commissioning.

The role requires 12+ years of substation design experience, proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation, and knowledge of NEC/NESC/IEEE standards.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering technology or related field required.
• Minimum 12 years of substation design experience in P&C and Physical Design.
• Experience with AIS and GIS substations from 12 kV through 500 kV.
• Knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE standards and utility requirements.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation or equivalent software.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain complete P&C and physical design packages for substation projects.
• Prepare wiring diagrams, panel layouts, relay panel arrangements and SCADA wiring drawings.
• Develop cable routes, schedules, and general arrangement drawings.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, and protection disciplines and with clients/contractors.
• Mentor junior designers and ensure design quality and compliance.
