Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Substation Designer to deliver Protection & Control and Physical Design packages for utility, industrial, and data center projects. You will develop detailed designs, coordinate multi-discipline teams, and provide technical guidance during construction and commissioning.

Responsibilities include creating wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and station drawings, while mentoring junior designers and ensuring compliance with NEC/NESC/IEEE standards.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or related discipline.
• Minimum 12 years of substation design experience.
• Experience in both P&C and Physical Design for AIS and GIS Substations.
• Experience supporting substation projects from 12 kV through 500 kV.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or comparable design software.
• Strong knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE standards and utility requirements.
• Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting quality and schedule commitments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain complete P&C and physical design packages for substation projects.
• Prepare wiring diagrams, panel layouts, relay panel arrangements, and SCADA wiring drawings.
• Develop cable schedules, routing plans, and station one-line diagrams.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, and protection disciplines across project lifecycle.
• Mentor junior designers and review design deliverables for quality and consistency.
• Support construction activities, commissioning, and field data collection.
