Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Substation Designer to deliver Protection & Control and Physical Design packages for AIS and GIS substations in utility, industrial, and data-center projects. You will work with engineers, project managers, clients, and contractors from concept to commissioning.

The role requires 12+ years of substation design experience, NEC/NESC/IEEE knowledge, and CAD proficiency (AutoCAD, MicroStation, and related tools). Jacobs offers a hybrid work model and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering tech or related field.
• 12+ years of substation design experience.
• Experience in P&C and Physical Design for AIS and GIS.
• Proficient with CAD tools: AutoCAD and MicroStation.

Responsibilities

• Develop P&C and physical design packages for substations.
• Create wiring diagrams, panel layouts and relay drawings.
• Size DC/AC distribution breakers and fuses.
• Produce station one-line diagrams and layouts.
• Coordinate with Civil, Structural and Protection teams.
• Review standards, calculations and vendor drawings for compliance.
• Develop Bills of Materials and manage drawing revisions.
• Support construction and commissioning activities.
• Mentor junior designers and drafters.
