Job summary

The Haskell Company in St. Louis is seeking a Senior Substation Designer to lead the physical design for medium to high voltage substations (15kV-500kV).

You will produce complete design packages and mentor junior designers across engineering, project management, and construction. You will read one-line and three-line diagrams, apply IEEE/NESC/NEC standards, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to meet project milestones.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of substation physical design experience (utility or EPC environments)
• Understanding of reading one-line and three-line diagrams
• Familiarity with IEEE, NESC, NEC, ANSI, and client-specific standards
• Ability to coordinate with engineers and drafters to meet project requirements

Responsibilities

• Create complete physical design packages for substations and retrofit projects, including layouts, elevations, grounding, and cable routing
• Coordinate with engineers and drafters to ensure designs meet project requirements and industry standards
• Interpret diagrams to develop complete physical drawings and incorporate vendor equipment drawings
• Provide field support, conduct quality checks, and mentor junior designers across projects
