Asplundh Engineering Services (AES) is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for Physical Substation Design in Atlanta, GA. This role leads medium- and high-voltage substation projects from concept through commissioning, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure technical excellence and client satisfaction.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years of utility design experience and strong knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
• 8+ years of experience in medium- and high-voltage substation/utility design.
• Knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead the physical design and execution of medium- and high-voltage substation projects from conceptual design through construction support and commissioning.
• Develop detailed engineering deliverables including electrical arrangements, elevations, grounding systems, conduit layouts, cable trench plans, lighting plans, lightning protection systems, and bill of materials.
• Collaborate with clients, project managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver projects that meet technical, quality, schedule, and budget expectations.
• Serve as a technical resource and mentor, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities to junior engineers and designers.
• Review engineering designs and deliverables to ensure compliance with client standards, industry codes, and company quality requirements.
• Support project planning, design estimates, equipment specifications, procurement activities, and overall project execution.
• Act as a trusted engineering partner to clients by providing solutions to complex technical challenges and maintaining strong customer relationships.
