Pacific Gas and Electric Company seeks a Substation Construction Inspector to provide direct oversight of contractor activities in a travel-heavy, onsite role across Northern/Central California. Focus is on safety, compliance with PG&E designs and standards, productivity, and quality control.

The position emphasizes working with multiple workgroups, supervising construction efforts, and ensuring timely, within-specification completion of projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualification: High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum qualification: 4 years of journey-level utility construction experience.
• Travel approx. 90% with overnight stays across service territory.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to drive safely, work extended hours and wear PPE.
• Desired: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering.
• Desired: Journey-level substation electrical experience.
• Desired: Experience in energized substation construction/maintenance.
• Desired: Strong leadership and coaching skills.
• Desired: Ability to interpret drawings and ensure constructability.
• Desired: Proficiency with MS Office.
• Desired: QA/QC knowledge.
• Desired: Conflict resolution in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee substation construction activities by contractors.
• Coordinate with Project Managers and other workgroups.
• Ensure safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
• Verify equipment forms are submitted correctly.
• Maintain contractor performance and cost controls.
• Support design reviews and constructability evaluations.
• Communicate status and changes to scope, schedule or cost.
• Oversee multiple projects across construction phases.
