Job summary

Leidos in Houston is seeking a Substation Designer to create electrical layout and plan drawings for substations ranging from 12kV to 500kV. You will develop foundations, conduit, grounding, and control building layouts, and assemble a complete BOM for all equipment.

Responsibilities include reviewing vendor drawings, collaborating with Civil Engineers, and applying client and national standards. Proficiency in MicroStation, AutoCAD, Word, and Excel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline required.
• 2+ years of substation design experience for Level 1, or 4+ years for Level 2.
• Experience with CAD software on electric utility projects.
• Proficiency in MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with multi-discipline teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical layout/plan drawings for substations 12kV to 500kV.
• Produce substation foundation, conduit, grounding, and control building drawings.
• Create BOM for electrical equipment and materials.
• Review vendor drawings and coordinate with civil engineers.
• Support processes to improve team efficiency and perform basic engineering calculations.
