Job summary

Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry is seeking a Senior Substance Abuse Counselor to assess and treat offenders within the Education Programs and Community Reentry unit at ASPC Lewis in Buckeye, AZ. The role includes leading education sessions, conducting individual assessments, maintaining records, and shaping treatment plans with a focus on successful pre-release coordination.

Licensure in AZ is required (LIAC/LAAC/LPC/LAC/LCSW/LMSW or Psychologist).

Qualifications

• Must be licensed in Arizona as LIAC, LAAC, LPC, LAC, LCSW, LMSW, or Psychologist.
• Employment contingent on background check and drug test.
• If driving on state business, must maintain a valid class-appropriate driver's license and complete required checks.
• TB testing at orientation and annually thereafter; E-Verify for state employees.

Responsibilities

• Conducts substance abuse education classes and therapy groups with inmate/offender participants.
• Conducts one-on-one clinical assessments and counseling sessions.
• Maintains clinical records and participates in staffings and meetings.
• Develops individual treatment plans and coordinates pre-release planning with case managers.
