Job summary

Allstate in New Jersey is seeking a Senior Subrogation Attorney to lead auto and property subrogation matters from investigation through resolution. You will advise claims partners and business stakeholders while managing substantive litigation and recovery strategies.

This remote role allows work-from-home flexibility with occasional appearances in court throughout New Jersey and periodic team events at our Clark, NJ office.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate required.
• Active NJ State Bar membership required.
• 4+ years of litigation experience in insurance defense, subrogation, personal injury, or related areas.
• Ability to independently manage a substantial litigation caseload.
• Experience with depositions, mediations, arbitrations, hearings and other proceedings.
• Strong civil litigation knowledge and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; LexisNexis and legal research tools preferred.
• Willing to travel throughout New Jersey for court appearances.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex auto and property subrogation litigation from investigation through resolution.
• Investigate liability and damages; develop recovery strategies to maximize results.
• Lead negotiations with carriers, attorneys, and third parties for favorable outcomes.
• Review assignments, develop litigation strategies, and advise claims partners.
• Provide legal counsel to claims professionals and business stakeholders.
• Prepare and present witnesses; conduct depositions and represent the company in hearings.
• Analyze claims files, expert reports and case law to support strategy.
• Prepare and argue pre-trial and post-trial motions and settlements.
• Monitor changes in laws and provide guidance on impact to recoveries.
• Manage a high-volume caseload while collaborating with teams.
