Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat's D460 department seeks engineers to support VIRGINIA Class submarine construction at EBQP. The role emphasizes resolving design issues, providing technical support for manufacturing, and verifying as-built dimensions and configurations.

The successful candidate will advance technical and project management skills while communicating assessments to Operations, planning, and Navy representatives, ensuring shipyard priorities are conveyed to engineering groups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree or higher in engineering (e.g., mechanical, marine/ocean, naval architecture, aerospace, civil).
• 5+ years of post-graduate engineering experience.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Proactively assisting trade personnel to overcome construction problems and facilitating /implementing design and process improvements.
• Adjudication of technical issues encountered during construction.
• Interpreting design/drawing/specification requirements.
• Providing clear and timely direction and/or evaluation to Quonset Point trades via disposition of Engineering Reports (ERs) and TIR UNSATs.
• Performing engineering calculations for "as-built" configurations.
• Interfacing with trade personnel, management and on-site Customer (Navy) representatives
