Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking a Waterfront Mechanical Engineer to provide engineering oversight for submarine component and system designs, support procurement, and troubleshoot during installation and post-delivery service periods.

You will produce engineering calculations, dispositions, and written evaluations; develop engineering instructions; investigate on-board issues; and mentor junior engineers while partnering with cross-functional teams to resolve complex challenges.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree or higher engineering degree required.
• 0–5 years of post-graduate engineering experience.
• Periodic weekend and off-shift availability as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering calculations for components and systems.
• Issue engineering dispositions (written evaluations) and prepare letters.
• Develop departmental and company-wide engineering Instructions.
• Investigate on-board submarine issues and support resolution.
• Mentor junior engineers to facilitate professional development.
• Collaborate with teams to solve complex problems and bound vendor non-conformances.
