Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat seeks Subcontract Buyers to coordinate and execute procurement for Bangor and Puget Sound Naval Shipyard submarine projects. You will work with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure cost-effective, timely delivery while following strict quality rules.

The role requires strong communication, business sense, and the ability to manage complex supplier relationships within FAR/DFAR and ITAR frameworks.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with 0-5 years of experience in supplier management or related field.
Ability to travel by plane to supplier facilities as needed.
Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word for documentation and analysis.
Willingness to work overtime as required.

Responsibilities

Source highly technical requirements to ensure on-time, high-quality material and services.
Evaluate and select suppliers based on performance, cost, quality, and delivery.
Negotiate prices, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve best value.
Author clear contracts and supplements with defined provisions.
Ensure compliance with FAR/DFAR, ITAR, and other regulations.
Monitor delivery schedules and communicate procurement status.
Manage multiple suppliers to meet quality and PO requirements.
Collaborate with Quality and other teams to assess supply chain health and risk.
Identify process improvements and cost savings opportunities.
Obtain and maintain PO signing authority via internal audits.
