Job summary

SER Metro-Detroit, within SER YouthBuild Learning Academy, seeks a Student Services Coordinator to lead district-wide special education programs. You will supervise staff, ensure program compliance, and partner with administrators and families to support students with disabilities.

The role emphasizes IEP/MARSE/504 compliance, staff development, and collaboration across campuses to achieve high-quality education for youth ages 14-21.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Special Education and 5+ years of experience.
• Demonstrated leadership in special education program development and coordination.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of IDEA, MARSE, and 504 regulations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise special education programs, services and staff.
• Provide district-wide leadership for program development and evaluation.
• Recruit, select and recommend hiring of staff.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.
• Liaise with families, school, and community resources.
• Stay current on laws and best practices for special education.
• Serve as district 504 liaison and support MTSS and professional development.
