Job summary

RTX, Collins Aerospace division, is seeking a Senior Structures Engineer to lead structural projects for aircraft wheel and brake systems. You will perform FEA analyses, design studies, testing, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve engineering challenges.

The role emphasizes mentoring, strong report writing, and frequent coordination with customers and internal teams, while enabling process improvements and efficient NPI cycles.

Qualifications

• Degree in STEM with 5+ years experience, or advanced degree with 3+ years.
• Experience with strain gage testing and Lifing analysis.
• Proficient with FEA software (e.g., ANSYS/LS-DYNA).
• Proficient with 2D/3D modeling software.
• Experience writing technical reports.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support aircraft wheel/brake structural projects, incl. design studies, FEA, testing, and issue resolution.
• Perform strength, fatigue, fracture analyses using classical methods and FEA.
• Develop instrumentation and test plans for strain gage testing and validation.
• Create detailed engineering reports and present at design reviews.
• Lead projects to improve engineering processes and reduce NPI cycle time.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across development, validation, qualification.
• Mentor junior engineers and support sr engineers.
• Travel up to 5% domestically and internationally.
