Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Senior R&D Test Engineer to develop novel fluid systems for R&D test stands, with a major focus on magnet testing. You will design, build, and operate fluid systems, collaborating with a cross-functional team across production, R&D, and procurement.

You will perform hand calculations, run ANSYS simulations, procure components, and design instrumentation and automation for safe operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, or process engineering.
• At least 7 years of experience with integrated fluid/mechanical systems.
• Experience with large-scale thermofluid systems lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Design fluid systems for test stands and meet objectives.
• Develop de-risking strategies and plans.
• Perform hand calculations and run simulations; build and run ANSYS structural and thermal analyses.
• Procure off-the-shelf components and draft specifications.
• Manage build and commissioning of fluid systems with teams.
• Design instrumentation and automation for safe operations.
