Job summary

DES in the Bay Area seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to lead a team of engineers and designers, directing technical work on building retrofit and new construction projects. You’ll coordinate workloads, mentor staff, and ensure schedules and budgets are met.

The role requires a California Structural Engineer license, a degree in structural engineering, and strong communication. You will work onsite in Redwood City or San Francisco Tue-Thu and participate in client meetings and proposals.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid California Structural Engineer license with 10+ years of increasing responsibility.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with architects, engineers, clients and stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of structural engineering codes, design standards and industry practices.
• Experience with seismic engineering design and diverse project types.
• Willingness to work onsite in Redwood City or San Francisco Tue-Thu.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership and technical direction to Structural Engineers, EITs and Structural Technical Designers.
• Coordinate workload assignments to meet project schedules and staffing needs.
• Mentor team members through coaching, training, and project oversight.
• Lead the creation of construction documents from concept through to completion.
• Assist with proposals, scopes of work, and fee estimates for Structural Engineering opportunities.
• Develop fee proposals and represent the firm in client interviews and presentations.
