Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. in Chicago, IL is seeking an experienced structural engineer to lead substation related civil/structural design, perform calculations, and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team on complex utility, renewable, and oil & gas projects.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a proven ability to manage small to medium design teams, and be prepared to take on Engineer of Record responsibilities, with opportunities for growth, training, and professional

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an accredited school.
Minimum 5 years structural engineering experience in utility industry.
Registered Professional Engineer preferred.
Experience leading small to medium civil/structural design teams.
Excellent oral/written communication skills and teamwork.
Proficiency with industry codes and software tools listed.

Responsibilities

Conduct and review structural engineering calculations.
Prepare design drawings on a multi-discipline team.
Support complex projects for utility, renewable, and oil & gas clients.
Coordinate resourcing to meet client deadlines with management.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Prepare proposals and estimates for various projects.
Assist with project management including budgets, schedules, and client relations.
Serve as Engineer of Record for projects.
