Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to be based in Los Angeles or Orange, CA. This senior role supports projects across entertainment, commercial, industrial, government, detention, and parking structures with emphasis on seismic design and retrofits.

The successful candidate will mentor junior engineers, make design decisions, and collaborate across disciplines, growing in our Buildings + Places group and contributing to LA28 scope.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering with 8+ years of experience or equivalent.
• US Citizenship due to federal contract/security requirements.
• Preferred: MS in structural engineering and California SE license.

Responsibilities

• Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
• Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established procedures.
• Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and tests.
• Proposes approach to solve new problems using modified procedures.
• Identifies discrepancies in results and resolves them.
• Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
• Performs work within budget and schedule with minimal supervision.
• Independently completes primary design elements for engineering works.
• Projects span entertainment, commercial, industrial, government, detention, parking.
• Lead/work independently on moderately sized structural design projects.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering
