Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer for our San Diego and Irvine offices to lead structural design across healthcare, education, science, and commercial projects. The role involves developing drawings, calculations, and specifications while mentoring junior staff.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensure code compliance, and contribute to project development from concept through construction, with resepect to seismic design and performance standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 5–7 years of relevant post-education experience in structural design, detailing, renovation and seismic strengthening.
• Familiarity with California Building Code / IBC.
• Engineer in Training Certification.
• Proficient knowledge of structural engineering principles and codes.
• Experience with design and construction administration and multiple projects.
• Ability to lead junior team members and manage projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop structural construction drawings, calculation packages and specifications.
• Prepare data, tables, charts, and 2D/3D illustrations for analysis and presentation.
• Protect QA/QC standards and ensure accurate measurements and reporting.
• Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers.
• Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients professionally.
• Stay current with latest structural engineering techniques and practices.
