Job summary

WSP is seeking a Lead Structural Engineer to join the Property & Buildings team in San Diego, CA and Irvine, CA. The role focuses on high-level structural design for complex building projects across healthcare, education, civic, and mission-critical sectors, with emphasis on Seismic Design Category D and compliance with industry codes.

You will lead technical work, mentor engineers, and deliver quality, on-time results in a collaborative environment.

• Apply high-level structural engineering techniques to identify improvements for building project phases including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, and construction.
• Perform professional structural engineering work and conduct research and observations of proposed and existing site conditions, resources, buildings and infrastructure, to determine conformance with applicable codes and standards.

Tasks include the research, concept development, planning, design and construction of building structures with emphasis on buildings in Seismic Design Category D. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets industry standards for design, safety, structural soundness, and functionality. Ensures high-quality deliverables are produced and distributed on time and in compliance with project-specific construction codes. Demonstrates leadership qualities and a passion for growing within the structural engineering profession. Manages and mentors other engineers in a team-oriented environment.
