Job summary

Arup is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join the Structural Engineering team, helping design varied building projects across multiple geographies. The role can sit in Houston, Austin, or Dallas offices.

You’ll work with leading engineers on notable projects, performing design analyses, preparing drawings, and coordinating with disciplines to deliver safe, compliant structures. PE license is required; SE is preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering with strong fundamentals for building systems.
• 7+ years of related experience in structural design and engineering.
• Interest and experience in Data Center Design and/or Rail markets preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of general analysis and seismic design software (ETABS, SAFE, SAP, etc.).
• Strong communication and planning abilities for a fast-paced environment.
• PE license required, SE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and design structural elements for steel, concrete, timber and masonry buildings per code and standards.
• Perform lateral analyses of structures for seismic and wind loading.
• Prepare and review drawings detailing designed systems.
• Complete design calculations for structural systems for permit submittals.
• Coordinate work with engineers from other disciplines and with architectural teams and contractors.
• Review submittals and respond to RFIs; conduct construction site visits.
• Communicate structural designs to clients and stakeholders.
