Job summary

Arup in the United States seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to join the Structural Engineering team across Houston, Austin, or Dallas offices. You will design structures for diverse projects and lead analyses, calculations, and drawings for permit submittals, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

The role requires a Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, 7+ years of experience, and knowledge of ETABS/SAFE/SAP. PE license is expected; SE preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering with sound knowledge of building systems.
• 7+ years of experience in structural design and engineering.
• Interest and experience in Data Center Design and/or Rail market preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of general analysis and seismic design software such as ETABS, SAFE and SAP.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and design structural elements and systems for steel, concrete, timber and masonry buildings per code and standards.
• Perform lateral analyses for seismic and wind loading.
• Prepare and review drawings detailing the designed systems.
• Complete design calculations for structural systems for permit submittals.
• Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines and with architectural teams and contractors.
• Review submittals by contractors and respond to RFIs; observe construction progress on site.
• Communicate our structural designs to clients and stakeholders.
