Job summary

H&H is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join the Rail & Transit Group in Boston, MA. You will lead designs for fixed and movable bridges, perform inspections, and supervise site visits while mentoring junior staff.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Civil Engineering, a MA-preferred PE license, and at least eight years in structural/bridge design with rail exposure. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering required.
• PE License required (MA preferred).
• A minimum of eight years of Structural Engineering experience with a focus on bridge design (rail experience preferred).
• Experience in conceptual, preliminary, and final design of structural projects.
• Experience with current FEM modeling software preferred.
• Local rail client base preferred (MBTA, Amtrak).
• Proficient in both verbal and written communications.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Structural Engineer on major projects
• Prepare detailed plans and construction documents
• Perform structural design calculations and analysis
• Develop technical specifications and contract bid documents
• Prepare technical reports
• Lead site visits for condition inspections
• Coordinate across disciplines and work in a team environment
• Mentor and train junior staff
