Job summary

LJB Inc. is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer in Dayton, Ohio. The role focuses on analysis, design and documentation for vertical structures, including tilt-up and steel detailing. You will mentor junior engineers and collaborate with project managers to meet timelines.

Qualified candidates have 10+ years in structural engineering, a PE license, and a bachelor’s degree in civil or architectural engineering with a structural emphasis. Master’s degree and RAM/Enercalc/Revit skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• 10+ years’ engineering experience in reinforced concrete and/or steel vertical structural projects such as commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings; data centers (tilt-up preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree in civil or architectural engineering with structural emphasis.
• Professional Engineer (PE).
• Experience preparing construction documents, drawings, reports, and supporting documentation.

Responsibilities

• Independently completes structural calculations for structural systems including superstructures, foundations, and floor slabs.
• Prepares the construction documents needed for vertical building structures.
• Coordinates with design staff to ensure accurate document and drawing production.
• Conducts quality reviews of their own and others' calculations, drawings, etc. as the project progresses.
• Ability to communicate with clients regarding project issues and attend meetings with no direction needed.
• Works with project managers on multiple concurrent projects to create and ensure delivery within established quality and project timelines.
• Mentors new engineers on the company engineering processes.
• Occasionally visits work site and reports findings.
