LJB Inc. in Dayton, Ohio, invites applications for an entry-level Structural Engineer in its Buildings Practice.

The role involves analyzing and designing structural components, preparing construction documents, and coordinating with design staff to support project goals. We seek a candidate with a civil or architectural engineering degree, CAD experience (Revit/Bluebeam), STRAP or similar software, and strong written and verbal communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or architectural engineering with structural emphasis.
• Ability to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) license within four years is desired.
• CAD experience with Revit and Bluebeam preferred; STRAP or similar software experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Complete structural calculations for systems including superstructures, foundations, and floor slabs.
• Prepare construction documents for vertical building structures.
• Coordinate with design staff to ensure accurate documents and drawings.
• Communicate with team and clients regarding project issues and attend meetings under supervision.
• Maintain technical knowledge through training and seminars.

We are looking for 2027 graduates to fill the position of Entry-level Structural Engineer for our Buildings Practice in Dayton, Ohio. The structural engineer will analyze, design, plan, and create structural components and structural systems to achieve design goals for LJB clients.

Annual Compensation:$70,000-90,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

ENTRY-LEVEL STRUCTURAL ENGINEER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Ability to complete structural calculations for structural systems including superstructures, foundations, and floor slabs.
• Assists with the preparation of construction documents needed for vertical building structures.
• Coordinates with design staff to ensure accurate document and drawing production.
• Communicates with the team and clients regarding project issues and attends meetings under the direction of a supervisor.
• Responsible for maintaining technical knowledge through completion of various training initiatives: attending seminars, reviewing professional publications, attending in-house systems/management training.

Additional Responsibilities and Duties:

• Ability to analyze situations and identify ways to improve efficiency.
• Ability to react quickly and calmly to high-pressure situations.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team settings.
• Occasionally visits work site, monitoring project progress and reports findings.
• Ability to meet all safety requirements if/when visiting a work site.
• Occasional travel may be required.
• Open to future growth of their position into a Project Manager role, if desired.

ENTRY-LEVEL STRUCTURAL ENGINEER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in civil or architectural engineering with structural emphasis required.
• The ability to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) license within four years is desired.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
