Job summary

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions in Lenexa, KS invites a Senior Structural Engineer to join our growing team. You will lead design and analysis for nuclear-grade structures, mentor junior staff, and interface with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver safe, reliable facilities across North America.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering; PE registration in at least one state.
• 12–15 years of structural engineering design experience in nuclear, conventional power or industrial sectors.
• 3–5 years of nuclear sector experience is desired.
• Deep knowledge of mechanics of materials, structural behavior and finite element methods.
• Experience with North American design codes: IBC, ASCE7, ASCE4, ASCE43, ACI 318/349, AISC360/N690.
• Familiarity with NRC regulations and DOE requirements; seismic design experience required.
• Excellent communication and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel (<25%).

Responsibilities

• Perform as an individual contributor with limited guidance from project leadership.
• Lead teams of engineers and provide mentorship for junior staff.
• Perform static and dynamic analyses using ANSYS APDL, SAP2000, GT STRUDL, STAAD Pro, LS-Dyna.
• Design buildings, foundations, equipment platforms, pipe racks, and concrete/steel structures.
• Prepare quantities, cost estimates, and technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with QA procedures and applicable codes.
• Support estimates, FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, and construction activities.
• Interface with designers and other disciplines to ensure thorough reviews.
